Crystal to Replace Bassett Creek Park Pedestrian Bridge in 2022
The Crystal city council approved a plan to purchase and install a new pedestrian bridge at Bassett Creek Park this summer. The current bridge is 40 years old and cannot support the weight of maintenance equipment, which means it cannot be plowed in the winter months. Recreation director John Elhom says people often call the city asking why the bridge isn’t maintained.
The council approved a new pedestrian bridge that is 80 feet long and 10 feet wide. It will be installed next summer, and it will be able to support maintenance equipment so the bridge can be plowed next winter.
You can listen to the full discussion in the council’s last meeting of the year.
