Crystal Police Receive New Fire Suppression Devices
Police in Crystal now have a set of new tools designed to fight fires and help save lives.
Members of the Crystal-based Plymouth Masonic Lodge No. 160 donated four fire suppression tools to the Crystal Police Department on Monday, Oct. 6.
Police can use the devices to knock down flames and reduce the temperature in a burning room by about 1,000° F. The devices release a non-toxic aerosol.
“Our officers are on scene, really, within minutes,” said Crystal Police Chief Brian Hubbard. “So, if we actually have a working house fire, for them, to be able to deploy a tool safely without having to endanger themselves, that can mitigate both injury, death and property damage, it’s a huge addition to what we have as a police department.”

“As freemasons, there’s not really many left of us, but it’s great to show ourselves in the community so people know the good works that we try to do,” said Nathan Dalbec, a member of Plymouth Lodge No. 160.
Each of the fire suppression units costs around $1,200.
