Crystal City Council Members Banks, Parsons Commended at Final Meeting
The Crystal City Council commended two outgoing city council members at their final meeting of the year.
Brendan Banks represented Ward 2 since Jan. 2019. Banks was an advocate for a new police station facility and was instrumental in developing language establishing the Inclusion and Diversity commission.
Banks said serving on the council has been “one of his highest honors.”
“At the end of the day, I feel confident in the direction the council is going. Even with differences of opinion, the mission is still the same and it’s with Crystal as a whole at the forefront and not personal ambitions or drive,” said Banks. “For me, I get passionate about local politics and that we keep it about the people and not getting parties and ideologies involved, but what’s best for Crystal.”
Olga Parsons represented Section 2 since Jan. 2015. Parsons was instrumental in pursuing “plain language” in city communications and the formation of the City Code Review Task Force to review, update and simplify the City Code. She also supported the renovation of Welcome Park.
“I am incredibly proud to live in Crystal. We purchased our home here at the top of the last bubble and kind of got stuck. But it wound up being the biggest blessing of our lives. We’re going to continue living here,” said Parsons.
