Creepy, Kooky “The Addams Family” on Stage at Cooper High School
They’re creepy and they’re kooky, they’re The Addams Family, and they’re on stage thanks to Cooper High School’s production of “The Addams Family”
With every Addams Family member being an icon of their own, every participant in this production has big character shoes to fill. Junior Lucy Weld slinks into the subtle role of the mysterious matriarch, Morticia.
“It was really tough for me to play because she’s very stern and strict and in control and I’m not that way in real life. It’s been a lot harder for me to let go and be that way,” said Weld.
Jimmy Whitcomb plays Fester who comes off as a creepy cupid.
“In this show he’s the narrator and he kinda like he tries to make everyone fall in love with each other again, cause that’s kinda like his thing,” said Whitcomb. “He’s like, I want everyone to love and he tries to orchestrate people coming together and loving each other.”
Not to be overlooked are the cast members playing the ancestors and ghosts. They contribute to the visual mood, and the grand dance numbers couldn’t happen without them.
“The Addams Family” is on stage at the Cooper High School theater Saturday, February 24 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m.
