Couple Creates Nostalgic Brookdale Mall Display
Jason Towley created a space in his home dedicated to his nostalgia for the place where he dated his wife, Brookdale Mall.
“When we heard Brookdale was going to be demolished, we said ‘let’s drive by Brookdale and see it one last time,” remembers Towley.
They found a Brookdale sign in the trash.
“My wife said let’s take a picture and I said, ‘no, we’re not going to take a picture. We’re going to take the sign because it was clearly going to be get scooped up and disposed of,” said Towley.
They fit the steel sign that was around 4 ft. wide in their vehicle, and stored it at home before deciding to display it on their wall. Accompanying the logo are tiles of animals that were on the parking signs around the mall. Towley says people remember the parking signs most frequently, but the entire display never fails to spark conversation.
“Friends, family who have known my wife and I chuckle and say, ‘yep, it’s in the right spot. That’s pretty neat,” said Towley.
Towley posted about his sign in the Brookdale Center Mall facebook group.
