Complaint: Suspect ‘Appeared Giddy’ After Trashing Brooklyn Park Coffee Shop
Charges have been filed against a suspect accused of trashing a Brooklyn Park Caribou Coffee shop on Tuesday. The suspect, Jack Heinrich, 33, had been serving probation after he was convicted last fall of setting a fire and causing damage at the Brooklyn Park Salvation Army worship center.
According to the criminal complaint:
The Caribou store at 9638 Colorado Lane was described as “a state of chaos,” and as though “a tornado had blown through the store.” The complaint says Heinrich entered the store and began throwing glasses and mugs and breaking things. Employees and customers, fearing for their safety, locked themselves in the bathrooms, the complaint said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located the suspect. The complaint said the suspect was “smiling” and “appeared giddy” upon his arrest. The suspect told police that if he went to prison “he would have a place to live, and we would all be paying for it.”
Heinrich, who had no address listed, has been charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree damage to property, both felonies, in connection to the damage at the Brooklyn Park Caribou Coffee. The estimated damage to the shop is approximately $8,000. The store has since reopened.
Heinrich was also recently charged with criminal damage to property after allegedly breaking windows with beer bottles at MC’s Tap House in Brooklyn Park on Feb. 1.
Taking into account sentencing guidelines and a plea agreement, a judge sentenced Heinrich to three years probation after the Brooklyn Park Salvation Army arson on Nov. 3.
