Coffee, Doughnuts … and Cops on a Rooftop in New Hope
A coffee and doughnut run came with an unusual sight in New Hope on Friday morning
Police officers from New Hope and Crystal joined Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputies on the roof above the Dunkin’ location on 42nd Avenue North.
The reason for the rooftop visit was to raise funds to support Special Olympics. When someone wanted to donate money, police lowered down a bucket
“We’ve raised a lot of money, a lot of money in the bucket,” said New Hope police officer Brad Kallio. “And every year we raise thousands of dollars for the cause, so it’s awesome.”
It was a bit chilly and windy Friday morning, but that beat last year when Kallio said officers had to deal with thunderstorms and rain.
This is the 6th year New Hope police have been involved.
