New Hope Cocktail Lounge One Step Closer to Opening
A planned New Hope distillery has taken another step toward its opening day.
The New Hope City Council unanimously approved on Wednesday night an on-sale liquor license for A. Davis Distillery and Cocktail LLC. That license will allow the distillery to sell alcohol for consumption in its new business called the Pocket Square Cocktail Lounge. The business plans to open later this year in the former Mountain Mudd location on 42nd Avenue North. It would be the first business of its kind in the city.
But it’s a trying time for the hospitality industry. Even after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted enough to allow bars and restaurants to reopen, social distancing will still require adjustments. Co-owner Alan Davis addressed these concerns to the council, which itself was meeting online to observe social distancing recommendations.
“We’re still certainly excited about the possibility of opening a microdistillery and cocktail lounge in New Hope,” said Davis, who explained that the seating plan will be different than originally proposed. “A little bit more event space, a little bit less hours open to the public.”
Though it does not believe it is legally required to, the company plans to follow the state’s restaurant social distancing guidelines in laying out the New Hope cocktail lounge.
