Coborn’s Market & Table Aims To Elevate In-Store Food Experience
A new flagship grocery story in Plymouth is attempting to bridge the gap between your weekly shopping trip and a night out at a high-end restaurant.
Coborn’s Market & Table opens on March 12, featuring local, chef-driven concepts that go far beyond the traditional food court.
“We conducted a number of focus groups in the Plymouth area with residents who live within several miles of this store, and they told us what they wanted,” said Emily Coborn Wright, president of Coborn’s, Inc.
What people wanted was for Coborn’s to provide wholesome, made-from-scratch food for their families on days when they don’t feel like cooking.
The result was two signature restaurants operated by local chefs that offer a full-service restaurant experience inside a grocery store.

The Buttered Tin is one of the restaurants located within Coborn’s Market & Table. The restaurant also has locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
A first for Coborn’s
The Global Table by chef David Fhima offers pasta, Mexican food and gourmet burgers; while The Buttered Tin by chef Alicia Hinze serves breakfast, lunch and fresh pastries.
“It’s elevated concept. I mean, the entire grocery store is an elevated concept,” said Hinze. “Even for Coborn’s. So having us, and you’re right, like this is a food court, but this is an elevated food court, this is a destination for sure.”
“I’m too old to be nervous,” said Fhima, when asked how he’s feeling. “And I’m excited. I’m looking forward to it. I’m always intrigued by things, by new things, by things that I haven’t done before. And being a part of that is really a cool thing.”
Coborn’s Market & Table is the first of its kind for the grocery chain. Coborn Wright said the company hopes to replicate this model in other cities across the state.

Tacos with a side of beans and rice are one of the many items available at The Global Table by David Fhima in Plymouth.
