Champlin Park Theatre Presents ‘Hadestown: Teen Edition’
Champlin Park High School theater students are putting their own spin on the musical “Hadestown.”
“Hadestown: Teen Edition” is a modern retelling of the story from Greek mythology.
Student Laila Sheriff plays Eurydice, one of the main characters, who she developed a connection with. She believes the audience will feel that connection, too.
“The story is really cool because she can kind of live her life through somebody else, who is showing her the positives of life instead of just focusing on surviving until the next day,” said Sheriff about her character, Eurydice.
The plot focuses on Eurydice, who gets swept off her feet unexpectedly by a passionate, young musician named Orpheus. The couple fall in love and embark on a journey to the underworld.
Due to the musical’s complex subject matter, the musical is not recommended for young children.
Performances of “Hadestown: Teen Edition” are May 2 through May 11.
