Calvary Lutheran Plans to Pack One Million Meals in a Week
Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley has a goal to pack one million meals starting on Friday. They are partnering with Feed My Starving Children to host a MobilePack program. Volunteers can sign up for a two-hour shift on the church’s website.
“We do Kid Pack every week and deliver meals to local kids,” says Dawn Dresser, director of mission and outreach with Calvary Lutheran Church. “So we feel if we are doing it for local people, we need to do it for global too.”
For the 11th year, Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley is inviting friends and neighbors to help them pack one million meals in a week’s time. An ambitious group of volunteers kicked off the event with Feed My Starving Children on Friday and the packing will continue throughout the week.
“This is Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, so service is on a lot of people’s minds,” says Dresser. “A lot of people don’t have school, so we’d love to have you come join us.”
Volunteers can sign up for a two hour shift on Calvary Lutheran Church’s website. Volunteers must be ages five and up. There are 35 shifts available from now until Saturday, January 26.
