Brooklyn Park’s First Brewery Officially Opens
When Blue Wolf Brewing Company in Brooklyn Park officially opened for business on Thursday, February 22, they had a line outside the entrance.
The opening was about as soft as you can get, with the only advertisement being a sign on the window and a post on social media. Yet people still came to get a taste of Blue Wolf Brewing Company’s first brews.
It’s been a long journey for the three owners to open up the shop right off 85th Avenue and Highway 252 near Broadway Pizza and Festival Foods. The business just passed their final inspection two weeks ago, and it took exactly two weeks to churn out the first three products: an American bitter, an IPA, and a dry rye ale.
“This is close to home for me, so it’s great,” says Al Swaser, who lives in Brooklyn Park. He saw the sign and decided to stop by on his way home from work. “I was surprised. It was pretty crowded when I got here, and it was shortly after 3 p.m. when I got here.”
Many customers were like Swaser, who seemed most excited about having a brewery close to home. One couple who lives within walking distance of Blue Wolf Brewing Company said they will be back.
“I think a lot of us out here like it because we don’t want to go out to the busy downtown or Northeast,” says a customer named Amanda. “We want to stay close to home so it’s nice to have it out here.”
The brewery expects to have a busy opening weekend. The taproom cannot serve food, but nearby Broadway Pizza will make deliveries.
