Brooklyn Park Woman Charged As Accomplice in Police Shooting
Police have charged a Brooklyn Park woman as an accomplice in in the shooting of a Minneapolis Police Officer.
Nevaeah Page, 20, was charged with aiding an offender this week.
Prosecutors also charged Fredrick Davis, 19, of Minneapolis, with attempted murder.
According to the criminal complaint, a Minneapolis Police officer in an unmarked car saw what he believed to be a stolen car driving in Minneapolis. The license plate matched a vehicle that had ran from police in Brooklyn Park the day before.
The suspect vehicle stopped, and the police officer was shot in the shoulder.
Officers responding to the shooting attempted to stop the vehicle.
The suspect vehicle led police on a 26-block chase before crashing near 21st Avenue North and Upton Avenue North.
Davis and Page ran from the vehicle on foot, while a teenager stumbled from the car with an apparent head injury. A fourth male remained in the car and was arrested.
Police later apprehended Page and Davis with a K9 unit.
During a search of the vehicle, police found two guns, including a “ghost gun.”
Davis did not identify the shooter for police.
“When asked if some had gotten out of the car and started shooting, she said ‘I don’t know,'” the criminal complaint reads. “Officers told Page they believed she was trying to protect the other occupants, and Page replied that if so, that did not mean she had anything to do with the shooting.”
The officer has been discharged from North Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.
