Brooklyn Park Toys for Tots Collection Becomes Drive-Through Event
Jerry Moscowitz usually hosts a holiday party at his Brooklyn Park home to collect hundreds of gifts for Toys for Tots. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he can’t host a holiday party in his house. However, he believes the need is still great.
“This is about bringing some smiles to kids who are having a tough time so to me, this is more important than ever,” said Moscowitz.
So Moscowitz, along with his family, is turning the toy drive into a two day drive-through event on Dec. 12 and 13. He’ll stand outside his house and collect toys, while offering every family a button for donating and a treat too. Moscowitz says the toy drive brings out the best in people.
“It gives you that reminder of how much good there is in people,” said Moscowitz. “It’s people helping people.”
This will be Moscowitz’s 35th year to host the party, and he usually collects hundreds of toys. So many that the U.S. Marines, who sponsor the event, come to his house to collect them.
