Brooklyn Park Teen Fatally Shot on Halloween ID’d
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has released the identity of the teen killed on Halloween in Brooklyn Park.
The examiner said 16-year-old Diriye Muhumed of Brooklyn Park died of multiple gunshot wounds shortly after 5 p.m. on Oct 31.
Muhumed was fatally shot along a sidewalk near 73rd and Zane avenues north, across the street from Huntington Place Apartments. Another 16-year-old boy was shot twice and critically injured in the shooting, police said.
Police conducted an extensive search the night of Halloween evening using drones, K9s and a helicopter, but were unable to make any arrests.
Investigators believe the shooting wasn’t random.
“What the relationship was between the victims and the suspects is still unknown,”Brooklyn Park police Inspector Elliot Faust told CCX News this week.
Brooklyn Park police are asking for witnesses to come forward to help them solve the crime.
