Brooklyn Park Swears In Diverse Group of New Police Officers
The Brooklyn Park Police Department bolstered its ranks with five new officers this week.
They were sworn in on Thursday at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center.
During the ceremony, family members pinned badges on each of the new officers.
The new officers are Clayton Decker, Fatim Sackor, Logan U’u, Momodou Dibba and Kong Vang.
Several of these new officers started working for the police department through the department’s cadet program.
Police officials say the program is helping to bring in a diverse pool of new prospective peace officers.
“We’ve had an awesome amount of success and it feels like it’s continuing to grow,” said Brooklyn Park Police Department Inspector Elliot Faust. “People in the community are looking at the program as something that’s very successful and very legitimate. And so, word spreads.”
The police department also recognized the promotions of two officers — Ryan Hjelm and Seth Wilson — to leadership positions. Hjelm was promoted to lieutenant and Wilson was promoted to sergeant.
