Brooklyn Park Sets Special Election Date to Fill Vacant Council Seat
The city of Brooklyn Park has now finalized calendar dates to fill a vacant city council seat.
The West District council seat was previously held by Susan Pha, who was elected last fall to serve in the state Senate.
According to the city clerk’s office, a special primary election will be held Tuesday, May 9, if more than two candidates file. The special election would then take place Tuesday, Aug. 8. If no primary is needed, the special election will occur on May 9.
The filing period for candidates is Feb. 14 through Feb. 28.
The winner of the special election will serve the remainder of Pha’s term, which runs through 2024.
