Brooklyn Park Police: Woman Fatally Stabs Boyfriend Trying to Choke Her
Police responded to a domestic violence call early Sunday morning at a townhome in the 8600 block of Tessman Circle in Brooklyn Park.
Police say a woman was holding her 5-month-old child when her boyfriend began to choke her. That’s when police say the woman grabbed a kitchen knife and swung at the man in self-defense. Police say the man was wounded and fled the house. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Police add there is a known history of domestic violence involving both parties.
The Brooklyn Park man killed has been identified as Richardo Pates, 40. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Pates died as a result of blunt force injuries. Police say Pates has a history of domestic violence.
