Brooklyn Park Police Remind Homeowners To Lock Doors After Burglar Spotted with Gun
Brooklyn Park police are reminding homeowners to lock their doors after a prowler was spotted peering into homes. In one case the burglar was inside a home while armed.
In that case, reported shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to a home in the 1700 block of 73rd Avenue N.
Police say the homeowners got home then found a burglar inside. That man fled after pointing his gun at them, police said.
Law enforcement from several agencies surrounded the area and conducted a K-9 search, but could not find the burglar.
Brooklyn Park police released a description of the burglar. He’s described as the following:
- a Black male
- 5’9″ to 5’10” in height
- skinny build
- “beard-style facial hair.”
Police say the burglar was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
Brooklyn Park police say a man of similar description was spotted earlier Thursday less than half a mile away near Newton Avenue North and Meadowwood Drive, as well as in nearby Brooklyn Center.
“If anyone notices suspicious activity, they are encouraged to call 911 immediately,” Brooklyn Park police said in a news release.
