Brooklyn Park Police: Man Fired at Officer Before Shooting
Brooklyn Park Police say a man shot at officers on Wednesday night before taking his own life.
Police were investigating a call of shots fired around 9 p.m. when they say someone started shooting at an officer and hit the officer’s vehicle. The officer was not injured, but police say people shooting at police officers has increased in recent years.
“Unfortunately in the last two years this has happened to us several times. Our officers have been shot at and I’m not sure what to make out of that other than the fact that there is violence in this community and some of that is projected toward us as officers when we’re responding to try to help out in these situations,” said Inspector Elliot Faust, Brooklyn Park Police.
As other officers arrived at the scene on Maplebrook Parkway North, police say another 911 call from a neighbor said the man had taken his own life.
Police say the incident was part of a domestic violence call, and a female victim was unharmed.
