Brooklyn Park Police Arrest Suspect in Attempted Armed Robbery
Brooklyn Park police arrested a suspect accused of trying to rob a man at gunpoint and striking the victim with the weapon.
Police say the incident happened Saturday at 11:15 a.m. in the 6700 block of Oak Grove Parkway.
According to police, the victim arranged to sell shoes through social media.
When the buyer showed up, police say he displayed a gun, then struck the victim with the firearm when the seller refused to comply. The suspect then fled in a vehicle.
As officers responded, they spotted the vehicle matching a description of the one leaving the scene. Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the suspect.
Police said they were able to recover a weapon after a witness saw the man toss it out of the car.
Jail records show an 18-year-old man from Inver Grove Heights was booked pending a charge of aggravated robbery.
