Brooklyn Park Police Arrest Suspect After Three-Hour Standoff
Brooklyn Park police responded to a domestic assault report Monday afternoon that involved a three-hour standoff with a male suspect.
Police were initially called to a local hospital shortly before 3:30 p.m. on a report of a domestic assault. When they arrived, officers spoke with a woman who they say sustained “significant injuries.”
Investigators later went to arrest a male suspect at a home in the 1300 block of 84th Lane. During Monday’s arrest attempt, the man barricaded himself in a bedroom with two children, police said.
Brooklyn Park SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene. After three hours, the man surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. The children were released unharmed.
The suspect is being held in the Hennepin County jail pending charges.
