Brooklyn Park Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Father in Baby Death
Brooklyn Park police arrested a father after the death of his 2-month-old son, authorities said Friday.
Officers responded Tuesday afternoon to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue North after receiving a report of a 2-month-old baby not breathing. The responding officers tried giving first aid. The infant was rushed to North Memorial Health Hospital where he died a short time later.
According to Brooklyn Park police, the child’s 19-year-old father was the only caregiver at the time of the incident. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the child as Derrick Johnson Jr. Authorities say the infant died of “multiple blunt force injuries.”
The father is currently being held in the Hennepin County Jail pending charges.
