Brooklyn Park McDonald’s Closed After Grease Fire
A Brooklyn Park McDonald’s is temporarily closed after a fire. It happened mid-morning Tuesday at the McDonald’s off Minnesota Highway 252 and 85th Avenue North.
Eight fire trucks quickly arrived on the scene and got things under control. Firefighters discovered that one of the fryers caught fire.
“We arrived on scene and determined that there was a fire in the grease system,” said Brooklyn Park Fire Chief John Cunningham. “It extended into the ventilation system. Our crews were quickly able to extinguish it using a dry chemical system and extinguisher and a limited amount of water. So right now the restaurant’s closed until they can get things cleaned up. But there was minimal damage and we are just checking to make sure there is not further extension.”
There were no serious injuries, but one person was evaluated for smoke inhalation.
Staff from Brooklyn Park will inspect the McDonald’s to make sure it meets all codes before it can reopen.
