Brooklyn Park Man Prepares for 37th Toys for Tots Collection
Jerry Moscowitz will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at his Brooklyn Park home on Teleford Bay Road.
Moscowitz’s address is 9255 Teleford Bay Road. He invites people to stop by and drop a toy off. The most needed items? Toys for teenagers.
He collects so many toys that the U.S. Marines come to his home to collect them. He’s even won awards for the event.
“It’s a belief that kids deserve to have something to open up on the holidays,” said Moscowitz. “It’s not just the kids. There are parents that have to make tough decisions during these times.”
Moscowitz started the toy drive with a few friends and it’s morphed into a holiday tradition for his family. Friends and community members stop by with toys too, making it part of a holiday tradition of his own. Check out his Facebook page for more info.
The toy drive survived the pandemic, and he’s hoping people give despite of the inflation too. You can visit the Amazon Wish List here.
“We see a lot of familiar faces,” said Moscowitz. “Some have given us money to buy more toys. Whatever your beliefs are, most of us want to make kids happy and recognize that this is a special day.”
