Brooklyn Park Man Accused of Stabbing Man at Crystal Bar 17 Times
Criminal charges have been filed against a Brooklyn Park man accused of stabbing another man at a Crystal bar a total of 17 times.
Kendrick Dotstry, 51, is charged with attempted second-degree murder.
According to the criminal complaint, Dotstry stabbed a man sitting next to him at Steve O’s bar on Saturday night.
Police obtained video surveillance that showed the victim touching Dotstry with his arm, which appeared to be be an accident. The footage showed the victim putting his hand up “in an apologetic manner,” the charges read.
Interaction between the two continued with Dotstry appearing to become more “animated.” The footage showed the victim step toward Dotstry, whch is when Dotstry is seen striking the man in a stabbing motion.
“[The victim] can be seen attempting to place Dotstry in a headlock and Dotstry continues to stab,” the complaint read.
The stabbing lasted nearly 20 seconds including as the victim fell to his knee and slumped to the ground.
The complaint said the injured man suffered 17 stab wounds, nine of which were to his lower back.
During the incident, another woman seated near the two involved was bumped into and “didn’t realize until later that she had actually been cut.”
Officers recovered a knife from the scene.
Dotstry denied any wrongdoing to police, saying “he was the victim,” the complaint said.
