Brooklyn Park Hosting Sept. 13 Material Reuse Donation Day
The city of Brooklyn Park’s annual Material Reuse Donation Day is coming up this Saturday, Sept. 13. It’s an opportunity for families to drop off reusable furniture items and building materials that they aren’t using anymore.
It’s a partnership between Hennepin County, Bridging and Better Futures MN.
Better Futures MN, a nonprofit that helps build careers for formerly incarcerated people, was a part of the project last year. It specialize in reuse and resale of building materials.
Bridging is a new partner this year now that recently opened its location in Plymouth. The nonprofit collects household items to give to families in need.
Brooklyn Park Recycling Manager Tim Pratt said this event is a great way to declutter. He does ask that you donate quality items — things that are good enough to give to someone you know.
“If you’re like most people, you’ve got more stuff than you need,” Pratt said. “Here’s an opportunity to get it to those folks who need it; to help out. We try to make it as convenient as possible by making it a one-stop-shop!”
People can bring their items to the Brooklyn Park Operations and Maintenance Building on Saturday, Sept. 13. It’s open to anyone between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
A full list of what items are and aren’t accepted are on the Hennepin Recycling Group webpage.
