Brooklyn Park Declares Tuesday “Nystrom Day”
The city of Brooklyn Park celebrated the expansion of a growing company as city officials declared Tuesday “Nystrom Day.”
Mayor Jeff Lunde joined Nystrom CEO Sue Thomas and company employees for a ribbon cutting on a new building expansion. The added building nearly doubles the size of Nystrom’s Brooklyn Park campus.
Nystrom makes products for the commercial building industry. The company’s growth also highlights the need for workers.
“Where the job growth and the needs are is actually in manufacturing,” said Brooklyn Park Mayor Jeff Lunde. “People can make a really good living. And the worker shortage is very acute. And so in Minnesota, you’ll find manufacturers all over our city and other cities we talk about, just to find people who want to do a job. They’ll make more money doing this job than other jobs. But they’re not ever told that.”
Nystrom has 230 employees and the expansion will allow for future job growth.
