Brooklyn Park Considers Turning Land on 85th Avenue into Apartments
The Brooklyn Park Economic Development Authority is working with the Minnesota State system of colleges and universities to purchase land near 85th Avenue and College Parkway. There are preliminary plans to develop that land into two apartment complexes and a daycare.
The land is comprised of 6.2 acres and is currently part of the North Hennepin Community College campus. The project is still in the early stages, but plans call for a mix of affordable and market-rate apartments. The process involves grant money, tax credits and it’s still a fairly lengthy process before construction could begin during the summer of 2022, at best.
