As news of the impending coronavirus arrival hit cities like Brooklyn Park, emergency management operations began. CCX News spoke with Chief John Cunningham, who oversees Brooklyn Park’s Fire Department as well as emergency management operations for the city.
“When this crisis started to unfold across the country, we stood up our emergency operations center,” said Chief Cunningham.
This center helps the city figure out how to respond to different scenarios and be able to handle an increase of calls, should they come in.
So far, Chief Cunningham believes residents of Brooklyn Park have complied with the Governor’s Stay-at-Home order. “Everyone has been really understanding and supportive,” said Cunningham. “They understand we are all in this together.”
If people do stay at home and practice social distancing, Chief Cunningham says it will help them “immensely.”
