Brooklyn Park Approves Plan for Union Hall
The Brooklyn Park City Council on July 8 gave final approval to a union hall moving into an area that will replace vacant homes.
The area just south of I-94 and east of West Broadway will become the future home for the Minnesota chapter of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
There are three vacant homes there now. IBEW will also purchase a fourth occupied home as part of the development.
A charter school had initially wanted to move to the site. The city sided against that proposal over traffic concerns.
IBEW plans to make the site its membership office headquarters. It will serve about 15 employees initially.
