Brooklyn Park Approves New Apartment Building Along Hwy. 610
The Brooklyn Park City Council gave unanimous approval this week to plans for a new apartment building along Highway 610.
The proposed 115-unit building would be part of the 610 West complex and be located southeast of the existing buildings, north of Highway 610 and east of Hampshire Avenue. Eden Prairie-based The Doran Group is behind the project.
According to city documents, 15 percent of the units would be considered affordable, or 60 percent of the area’s median income. This particular project would include studio units, which the existing complex does not have.
Last month, the city council approved a waiver to an existing development moratorium to allow the project to proceed.
The applicant will be required by MnDOT to conduct a noise study due to the proposed building’s proximity to Highway 610 and would have to include any sound reduction, such as thicker windows, in its construction plans. City officials say the project would also require additional screening along Highway 610 in the form of trees and shrubs.
More details on the project can be found on the city’s website.
