Brooklyn Center’s First Full-time Fire Chief, Ron Boman, Dies at 86
Brooklyn Center’s first full-time fire chief, Ron Boman, died on Nov. 2. Boman served Brooklyn Center for 39 years, 31 of those as fire chief.
Boman became chief in 1988, the city’s first to work full-time in that role.
According to the fire department, Boman was instrumental in the founding of the department’s high-angle rope rescue team, the first dive rescue team in the North Suburban Mutual Aid Association and the joint powers training center in Fridley.
Boman also taught fire education courses at Hennepin Technical College.
A funeral service is set for 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov 18, at New Hope Church. There is a visitation set for one hour before the service begins.
Boman was 86 years old.
