Brooklyn Center School Voters Approve Tech Levy, Elect Three Board Members
Voters in the Brooklyn Center School District approved a technology levy on Tuesday.
The capital projects levy will fund approximately $700,000 over 10 years for school district technology upgrades and expansion of instructional programming.
Those upgrades include replacing outdated computers for K-12 instruction, updating technology labs and addressing school security systems and cybersecurity needs.
Brooklyn Center School Superintendent Carly Baker said the levy approval could help the district free up funds for other expenses.
Voters approved the levy with 53 percent of the vote.
Two Candidates Re-Elected to Brooklyn Center School Board; One Newcomer
Meanwhile, voters in the Brooklyn Center School District elected three school board members, which included two incumbents.
The candidates re-elected include Amy Bailey and Ruthie Dallas. Mary O’Connor previously served on the Brooklyn Center City Council.
Incumbent Aubry Woksonsommers was not re-elected.
The votes are as follows:
- Amy Bailey 30%, 1,490 total votes
- Ruthie Dallas 23%, 1,167 total votes
- Aubry Woksonsommers 20%, 994 total votes
- Mary O’Connor 26%, 1,326 total votes
School board members serve four-year terms.
