Brooklyn Center Man ID’d in Minneapolis Homicide
The first homicide victim this year in Minneapolis has been identified as a Brooklyn Center man.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office says 21-year-old Bobby Hawkins died Friday night of multiple gunshot wounds.
Minneapolis police said Hawkins was shot at about 6:20 p.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Fremont Ave. N. He was pronounced dead three hours later at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Police said ShotSpotter technology alerted officers of the gunfire before locating Hawkins.
No arrests have been announced in the case.
“Our investigators will work tirelessly to try and find answers about what happened to this man for his family,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “I urge anyone who may know what happened to contact our investigators.”
