Body Found in Maple Grove Gravel Mining Area Pond
Maple Grove police are investigating the discovery of a body found in a pond in the city’s gravel mining area.
The discovery was made by a worker just after 6:30 a.m. Friday in the area near 85th Avenue North and Valley Forge Lane.
Police said the case may be connected to a recently reported missing person.
“Maple Grove investigators are in contact with the missing person’s family,” said Maple Grove police Cmdr. Jon Wetternach.
The identity of the person is not yet disclosed and will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Wetternach told CCX News that “it’s not certain” if the death is suspicious in nature.
“It’s too early for us to comment,” said Wetternach.
Wetternach said the examiner is working to determiner the cause and manner of death, which will assist police in their investigation.
“The loss of life is difficult and tragic for any family or community,” Maple Grove police said in a statement. “As the investigation continues, further updates will be provided to the community.”
