Beloved Liberian Pastor Charles Goah Dies
Brooklyn Park and the Liberian community are mourning the death of a prominent pastor in the Liberian community. The Rev. Charles Goah passed away Thursday after a long battle with cancer.
Goah lived in Crystal and founded one of the oldest Liberian churches in Minnesota, United Christian Fellowship Church in north Minneapolis. He went on to lead the church for more than 20 years.
“Everyone is Mourning”
His friends say Goah was humble, kind and down to earth.
“It’s a sad time for us and there’s no words we can say to our people, to our family, everyone is mourning,” said Georgette Gray, executive director of the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota. “But we think he’s in a better place for what he was dealing with.”
Gray says Pastor Goah has performed hundreds of baptisms, weddings and other religious services. She says thousands will show their respects for the beloved pastor.
Pastor Goah is survived by a wife and two children. Funeral arrangements are still pending. A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist family. https://www.gofundme.com/4v498e-raising-money-for-cancer-treatment
