Armstrong Senior Collects Quarter for Koalas
Armstrong High School senior Sierra McCoy collected quarters for koalas earlier this year at her school, plus Cooper High School and Zachary Lane Elementary. McCoy’s father is Australian and she loves animals and the environment. So, she was motivated to raise money to help wildlife after seeing media coverage of the fires.

“I couldn’t watch the media and watch those animals burn and suffer. It was too much,” said McCoy. “I had to take action.”
But she didn’t do the work all on her own. She recruited other students staff collection tables.

The fundraiser raised a total of $1264.29 and will be given to WIRES, an organization that helps rescue and care for koalas. To learn more about WIRES, click here.
