Animal Humane Society Receives $50K Grant for Low-Cost Vet Care
The Animal Humane Society (AHS) in Golden Valley has received a $50,000 grant to provide low-cost vet care.
Petco Love, the charitable arm of retailer Petco, provided the grant. Officials say one of the biggest needs they hear from pet owners is finding quality, affordable vet care.
“Everybody probably is feeling the pressures of inflation and increased costs and we feel that too at the Animal Humane Society,” said AHS spokesperson Sarah Bhimani. “Our supplies cost more and just operating our facilities cost more.”
AHS offers a range of pet services at its vet centers, everything from wellness exams and dental care to spay and neuter surgeries.
“We want to make sure that we can help people keep their pets in their homes,” Bhimani said.
