Animal Humane Society Has New Adoption Procedures for Kitten Season
The Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley is entering its busiest season of the year when kittens and puppies are up for adoption. The organization offers animal adoptions daily, but people must go online to make appointments in order to adopt a kitten. Puppies will be up for adoption soon.
The Animal Humane Society calls this time of year “kitten season.”
“Kitten season is the time of year that cats start breeding and we see more kittens coming into the shelter needing new homes,” said Molly Morgan with the Animal Humane Society.
Kittens live in volunteer foster homes until they are old enough to be adopted.
“We used to do in-person visitations with the kittens. But now we are asking potential adopters to check on our website as the kittens become available and they will be asked to fill out a form on the website. Then, they will be contacted by us over the phone for a virtual visitation,” said Morgan.
If the kitten and the adopter are a match, then adoptions are scheduled by appointment only. You can find the website here.
The Animal Humane Society is preparing for puppy adoption to proceed the same way.
