Air Force Snocross Racing Team Visits Armstrong High School
The U.S. Air Force snocross racing team stopped by Armstrong High School on Thursday afternoon to talk to students about the mechanics of pro racing and the teamwork involved.
Teacher Luke Becker thought this would help students as they prepare for an upcoming engineering design competition.
“We’re building a car right now that goes 450 miles per gallon and when we are doing something like that, I really want students to see what a real team looks like and how they work together,” said Becker.
The experience was a surprise for students. Becker previously worked with some of the mechanics and worked to bring the team to Armstrong.
Team owner Steve Scheuring spoke to the team about his love for the sport and his experiences in the industry. Students then got a chance to see the machinery and talk to the mechanics.
The team plans to compete at Canterbury Park on this weekend. Learn more.
