A Place for Coffee and Playdates, MiniSota Play Café Opens in Maple Grove
MiniSota Play Café is now open in the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove. Parents and their children can sign up for a two-hour slot at the coffee shop and play space.
“As soon as you have a baby, your choices of places to go are limited, especially places for adults and kids,” said Mandy Wroolie, owner. “There’s really not that many of them.”
Wroolie came up with the idea for MiniSota Play Cafe while pregnant with her son and realizing there wasn’t a coffee shop to go visit with friends with toddlers in tow. She says going to a chain coffee shop would feel like she was disturbing the peace and interrupting people’s workplaces.
MiniSota Play Cafe opened on Feb. 24 near Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano. The indoor play space lets parents have coffee and visit while watching their kids play. Families can get two hours of play after they check-in.
The play space is the City of “Mini Grove” and has grocery and hardware stores, a hair salon, post office, jail, hospital, coffee shop and a music store. Each area has costumes, but there’s minimal toys to encourage cleanliness and imaginative play. There are other sections of the space for play too.
You can find their hours on Google and Safety and Wellness information on their website.
There’s also a MiniSota Play Cafe open in Champlin.
