7-year-old’s Birthday Parade in Plymouth Captured on Drone Video
One day the Wirth family of Plymouth hopes to visit all of the Major League Baseball ballparks in North America. This past weekend, they hoped to cross Fenway Park off their list by attending a Red Sox game to celebrate the birthday of their 7-year-old son, Sam.
Then the novel coronavirus pandemic hit and Sam’s birthday trip was canceled. But it still was a birthday Sam Wirth will never forget.
More than 20 vehicles of neighbors and friends paraded down Quantico Lane in Plymouth for Sam’s birthday. They had signs and balloons. Even Sam’s first-grade teacher from Plymouth Creek Elementary came down the road to wave and yell “happy birthday.”
“That was the biggest highlight of the parade for Sam,” said his mother, Molly. “He said I can’t believe my teacher was there. He misses school terribly.”

A neighbor captured drone footage of the entire event. Sam had been out playing in the yard with his 8-year-old brother, Tommy, when he saw the parade.
“We’ve been seeing this all over the community of how people are sharing love,” said Molly. “This is a fabulous way to share a birthday.”
