Good Luck Javie!
CCX Create Coordinator Javier Cedillo will be leaving CCX Media on Oct. 16.
When Javie applied for a part-time studio manager position in early 2012, he wrote about his firm belief in community access’s potential to empower people. He also talked about using his technical skills as a catalyst to create community. “If I can help someone with technical questions like how to use Final Cut Pro or lighting in the studio, that would make me feel like I was actively helping my neighborhood, rather than just working a job,” wrote Javie in his cover letter.
Over the last dozen years, Javie has helped hundreds of people navigate editing systems and he has provided his lighting skill and expertise on many, many productions. He’s known for his friendly, affable disposition and always having a smile or a hello for volunteers who have become friends over the years. Javie led the Create studio through the complexities of the pandemic and helped establish our first podcast studio. Javie also shared his expertise with a wider audience, by serving on the regional Alliance for Community Media chapter. Most recently, he served as co-chair.
Javie will be missed by volunteers and staff members alike. We wish him all the best in his next adventure.
There’s no replacing Javie, as he’s truly one of a kind, but staff members are working on a job posting for the next Create Coordinator.
Volunteers were notified by email about Javie’s departure on Wednesday, October 9.
