Robbinsdale Offering Free Energy Squad Home Visits
The City of Robbinsdale is offering Free Home Energy Squad Visits for residents, and city leaders encourage as many people to participate in the program as possible. Consultants will come to your home and take a look at features like windows and doors that may be leaky, insulation, light fixtures, water heaters, and your thermostat to see if there are more energy-efficient methods or products you can use instead.

The Energy Squad may offer to replace your old thermostat with a smart thermostat for free.
“Typically a visit will cost anywhere from $70 to $100, based on the age of your home,” said City of Robbinsdale Sustainability Coordinator Kayla Kirtz. “Offering them for free thanks to the Robbinsdale Economic Development Authority budget has been really successful.”
Kirtz said similar programs for businesses last summer also proved beneficial.
‘The more homes we can improve energy efficiency, the better,” she said. “We have some ambitious energy goals as a city. Our Robbinsdale Energy Action Plan seeks to avoid energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, so residential energy efficiency is one way to go about trying to achieve that goal.”
