Plymouth Fire Department Expands Perimeter To Recruit More Firefighters
Anyone interested in becoming a paid on-call firefighter with Plymouth Fire Department has a chance to ask questions and learn more at two upcoming recruitment meetings on June 4 and June 11 at Plymouth Fire Station #2. Each meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Plymouth Fire Department will host two recruitment meetings at Fire Station #2 on June 4 and June 11 at 6:30 p.m.
“You may not feel that you’re a good fit for this, but I think you just have to think outside the box a little bit,” said Firefighter Bryan Koster, who works in property management full-time. “We’re all busy, we all have time commitments, but there’s a flexible work schedule. You can kind of craft that to a certain degree to make it work for you.”
The department only has the following requirements for those interested in being paid on-call firefighters:
- 18 or older
- Valid driver’s license
- You have to live within a 12-minute drive of one of Plymouth’s three fire stations
“We’re looking for the best in our community and we were missing some really good folks with that (previous) eight-minute requirement,” said Michael Walstien, who works full-time in finance. “I’m thrilled we’re opening it up to 12 minutes from any fire station in the city. There’s a lot of really great people that will be able to prove if they have what it takes to be a Plymouth firefighter.”
