New Hope Mayor’s Minutes: City Survey and Budget
City Services Survey
New Hope is encouraging residents to participate in a City Services Survey that gauges overall satisfaction with core city services. Those services include: street maintenance, snowplowing, water and sanitary sewer services, police and fire services, and recreation services.
The survey can be completed online.
A printed copy of the survey was also included in the utility bill mailed to residents at the end of June.
2024 Budget Preparation
The city council is set to approve a preliminary 2024 Budget and Tax Levy in September and certify those numbers to the County Auditor.
Mayor Kathi Hemken reminds residents that final budget numbers may be less than those preliminary numbers, but they cannot be more. Hemken adds that council and city staff will continue to review the budget leading up to the public hearing in November.
Community Events
The In Motion Parks and Recreation brochure was mailed to residents at the beginning of August. The booklet includes a wide variety of program offerings for all ages. Registration for those programs are now open.
The Vehicle Fair will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Crystal Community Center.
The 2023 Community Police Academy will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m. More information on this event can be found on New Hope’s website.
