New Hope Mayor Wants Residents to be as Engaged as Possible
New Hope Mayor John Elder expressed his desire for more residents to be more engaged in the city.
“An engaged public is so much more knowledgeable about what’s happening in the city,” Mayor Elder told CCX Media’s Dave Kiser. “We want people engaged. A transparent government is a trusted government.”
Elder encouraged everyone to attend or watch city meetings, ask questions and share ideas.
He also took time to remind residents about the bi-annual Bulky Waste pick-up that happens in April for Crystal and New Hope. Solid waste customers–on designated days only–can put out large waste items that don’t fit in the customary bins for removal by crews in trucks.
Lastly, he commented about New Hope’s participation in the Safe and Stable Communities Coalition, a group of about two dozen Twin Cities-region communities who are seeking more cooperation and help in the wake of Operation Metro Surge.
“This group is working with our state and federal legislators to really sort of deal with any things that are happening now as well as things that could happen in the future,” said Elder.
