Mayor’s Minutes: Robbinsdale’s Bill Blonigan Makes Final Appearance
Robbinsdale Mayor Bill Blonigan made his final appearance on Mayor’s Minutes with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser after Blonigan decided not to run again this fall. He will retire from city politics after 40 years at the end of December.
There will be a reception to honor Blonigan at Robbinsdale City Hall on Tuesday, December 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Blonigan did talk about a new snow emergency policy for the city starting this winter; the city will no longer declare them via traditional media outlets. Rather, Blonigan said it will be up to residents to know that if the city officially received two inches or more of snow, no one can park on city streets until that street has been cleared curb to curb.
Residents and business owners in Robbinsdale still have to time to weigh in about next year’s city budget and the proposed levy increase.
“The city council set a maximum preliminary budget of a ten percent increase,” Blonigan told Kiser. “We didn’t like that, and we’re dialing it back to eight percent. You may see on your mailing that you got a bigger increase than what we’re going to do. We’re going to try to work on it, and as always we’d like you to respond to us by email or by coming to the public hearing and telling us what you think.”
