Mayor’s Minutes: Robbinsdale’s Bill Blonigan
Robbinsdale Mayor Bill Blonigan spoke with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser recently about upcoming events in the city that residents can look forward to.
Water Tower Coming Online
The city’s new 750,000-gallon water tower on the north end near Highway 100 was completed last year, but a control panel part has just come in and will be installed.
“We’re shutting down our 125,000-gallon downtown tower, our 500,000-gallon North Memorial tower, and about St. Patrick’s Day, we should get all the new water going through the new tower,” said Blonigan. “You’ll have about 13 PSI more coming through your tap.”
Busy Election Year
Blonigan also mentioned the busy election year made busier by several recent city council resignations, along with his own announcement he would not seek re-election.
“Because Ward 2 is vacant, we’ll have a special election to fill the time between now and the end of the year,” he said. “Then there will be a general election, preceded by primaries, for Wards 1, 2, and the mayor. Those will be four-year terms.”
Yard Waste Collection
The time of year many residents look forward to is when haulers begin curbside yard waste collection. This year in Robbinsdale it will begin on April 15.
“That’s tax day,” said Bloniga. “That will help you remember when the collections begin.”
